Hi friends,Here's an idea, how about a regular gathering of yoga teachers to share what they are currently into (like a show and tell) and to practice together? We could use a part of the get-together…Continue

As I mentioned the Android app (Rev 1) for omTownYogis is complete.
It includes the "Google Mapped" Studio directory. A link to the draft Studio Directory follows: http://goo.gl/maps/qOE0j

Comment by Claire Stillman on November 9, 2012 at 7:09pm Sounds incredibly excellent to me. THANK YOU!
Comment by Charles Woodward on November 9, 2012 at 6:06pm I'll try to have the Android app working in a week. In parallel I will investigate the map portion.
Along the way I welcome questions and comments.
By the way, Reginald and his office manager Heidi are two of my heroes.
Comment by Claire Stillman on November 9, 2012 at 5:13pm Extremely cool. I do not understand the Google map aspect but could probably grasp it with your help :)
For one thing, I'm a huge Reginald Baylor fan, so, I already doubly like where you're going. How would you like to proceed?
Comment by Charles Woodward on November 9, 2012 at 4:38pm Yes online tools exist.
1.) doubledutch.me might do it.
2.) shoutem.com provides what you need but there is a monthly fee and it might require modifications to your current website.
I envision this work be performed without making changes to your website.
Ultimately, the goal is for you to manage and own the code in the mid- term. You would have approximately 3 months to take over the Google map.
The Android app would be a static entity. Why is this true?
When viewed in a browser your current website automatically reformats itself so it is viewable in the mobile device (e.g., Android, iTunes). I would provide you the framework-code for viewing on a mobile device. So whenever you make a change to your website that change is immediately reflected in all mobile devices that run your app.
The 2nd piece is the Google map. I'm sure you could update that.
I welcome your comments.

Comment by Claire Stillman on November 9, 2012 at 4:04pm omigosh, how fabulous, Charles! i'm going to search my site support to see if apps already exist, maybe i've just neglected to figure it out! i'll report back!!
Comment by Charles Woodward on November 9, 2012 at 3:38pm Hello Discussion Group. I was trying to figure out a way I could give something back to the Milwaukee Yoga community when I encountered omtownyogis.org.
My current thinking is to donate time and write an Android app that automatically packages the www.omtownyogis.org website on Android phones (in a mobile device format).
It would also include a Google map with your member studios and instructors' locations.
If this goes well I'd consider doing an iPhone app.
Following are links to a couple of my apps.
